Why dots beat lines

Dots guide your spacing and alignment but disappear behind your work, so finished pages look clean rather than gridded. You can write straight, rule boxes, draw charts and place headers freely — then the structure fades into the background. That flexibility is exactly why dot grids took over the journaling world.

The journaling standard: 5 mm

A 5 mm dot spacing is the de facto standard used by most premium notebooks, so layouts and trackers you find online line up perfectly. The default sheet uses soft grey dots on A4; switch to A5 in the editor to match a pocket notebook, or print on both sides for a DIY journal.

Tune the dots

Open the editor to change dot spacing, colour and size, add margins, or rotate to landscape for spreads. Bolder dots help in low light; lighter dots vanish almost completely. Save a whole journal as a single multi-page PDF.
